RESET, Elyria!

RESET, Elyria!
Posted on 08/29/2022

The 2022-23 school year is off and running.

Elyria Schools kicked off the year on August 24 with a full return for students at Elyria High School and a staggered start for students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Staff and students have adopted a RESET mindset for the new year, enjoying their new state-of-the-art schools and the ability to come together again for a more typical school year as COVID nears endemic status.

Strong relationships and trust: these are the keys to successful, meaningful experiences between students and their teachers and the school staff.

The district follows the PBIS framework (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) that promotes school safety and positive behaviors.

Over the summer, Elyria teachers worked together to review and establish classroom practices that follow the PBIS model for behavior and school culture.

PBIS is not new to Elyria but with a RESET mindset--and after the challenges of teaching and learning during a pandemic--the staff of Elyria Schools set new goals and strategies to restart and refresh the learning environment for students this year.

PBIS is a framework that carries from school to home. Learn more about PBIS for families from the Ohio Department of Education or contact your school to learn more and to become involved!
